Cardiovascular Risk and Statin Eligibility of Young Adults After Myocardial Infarction

The 2013 ACC/AHA guidelines and the 2016 USPSTF recommendations suggest to evaluate statin eligibility for primary prevention for patients who experienced a myocardial infarction at age ≤50 years. The conclusion of the study was that most adults who had a myocardial infarction at a young age were ineligible for statins for primary prevention according to current guidelines.
