Therapeutic management of choanal atresia

Choanal atresia is a congenital malformation characterized by a growth defect in the posterior nasal cavity. The obstruction is usually unilateral and in most cases bony, but it may also be membranous.
The condition is usually congenital, but can also occur from an injury and is more common in women. The authors present therapeutic principles used in a patient with unilateral choanal atresia, illustrating some particularities and endonasal endoscopic surgical procedure limits.
