A rare case of leiomyosarcoma of penis

Introduction. Mesenchymal tumors of the penis are extremely uncommon and within them, sarcomas are exceptional. Less than 100 cases of leiomyosarcomas have been reported in the English language literature.
Case presentation. We report the case of a patient with a tumour in the dorsal area of the penis, with 6 months evolution, accompanied by periods of short bleeding from the tumour. The patient underwent partial glansectomy under general anesthesia and a plastic reconstruction with buccal mucosa was performed due to the big defect of glans penis.
Conclusions. The penile leiomyosarcoma has rarely been described in the literature. An accurate histopathological and immunohistochemical diagnosis is essential for the correct diagnosis and consequently the appropriate treatment.
Keywords: leiomyosarcoma, glans penis, buccal mucosa.
