Adding Rivaroxaban to Aspirin Cuts Costs in Secondary Prevention

A 23 months’ study (COMPASS) which enrolled 27,395 patients showed the superiority of rivaroxaban plus aspirin vs aspirin alone with  lower rates of stroke, myocardial infarction, severe limb ischemia, resuscitated cardiac arrest, venous thromboembolism, and angina cardiovascular death although there was more major bleeding with the combined therapy. They also had higher rates of heart failure, cardiac arrhythmia, syncope, transient ischemic attack (TIA).
