Chronic laryngitis is a common disease that affects both women and men, the etiologic factors of which lead to smoking, gastroesophageal reflux disease, infections (bacterial, viral, fungal), misuse of voice or autoimmune, irritative, traumatic or allergic factors.
Left untreated, some forms of chronic laryngitis can turn malignant, so in some cases it is necessary an aggressive follow up with histopathological examination.
